The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilfinger shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffith napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Griffith is looking for a sweep.
Griffith is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hilfinger's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Griffith moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hilfinger postures up in Griffith's guard and throws a big left but Griffith blocks it.
Hilfinger loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Griffith keeping moving, preventing Hilfinger from controlling successfully.
Griffith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hilfinger manages to get himself to full guard.

Hilfinger is wriggling around but Griffith manages to pass to half guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hilfinger is trying to stand up here but Griffith is controlling him well.

It looks like Franklyn Hilfinger has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Griffith works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Griffith advances nicely into full mount.
Hilfinger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Griffith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee warns Hilfinger that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That has opened up Franklyn Hilfinger's cut even more.
Griffith lands a big shot to the head and Hilfinger winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
