PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Johanssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robin Hood told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Johanssen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robin Hood!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johanssen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Johanssen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Johanssen lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Robin Hood has been cut.
Hood loads up on a big right hand but Johanssen slips the punch.
Johanssen swats away the attempt to clinch by Hood.
Johanssen tries to bum rush Hood with a series of wild strikes but Hood uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johanssen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hood to the mat! Hood manages to get full guard.
Johanssen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hood swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hood is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Johanssen has gone for a leg lock! Hood slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johanssen's guard.

Hood gets to his feet - Johanssen follows without any prompting.

Nice straight punches there by Hood. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Hood.

Hood looks to land a left hand but Johanssen moved out of range nicely.

Hood throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hood thuds his right hand into Johanssen's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Hood lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Robin Hood is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hood is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A clash of legs there as Hood blocks the low kick.
David Johanssen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johanssen throws a nice looking combination but Hood bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Hood throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johanssen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hood tests Johanssen's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Hood scores with a hook to the body.
Hood tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Johanssen avoids it.
Hood lands on the inside with an uppercut.

A short body shot lands from Hood as the two fighters clinch.
Johanssen has had enough of the clinch but Hood keeps him there for the moment.
Johanssen blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Johanssen on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

A nice left hand lands by Hood.
Hood lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Johanssen wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hood will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Johanssen up against the cage.

Hood doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Johanssen blocks an elbow strike.
Hood is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Johanssen.

Hood pushes Johanssen back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Hood taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Hood can't find room to land a body shot as Johanssen controls the action.
Johanssen tries to pull guard but Hood holds him up against the cage and eventually Johanssen drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Johanssen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hood misses with a hook from the clinch.
Johanssen blocks an uppercut.
A nice left hand lands by Hood.

David Johanssen's cut is getting worse.
Hood lands a left hand.
Johanssen can't break the clinch.

Johanssen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hood smiles and moves away.
Hood swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hood throws a head kick that Johanssen semi-blocks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Johanssen throws a series of punches but Hood moves out of range.
Johanssen throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hood counters with a stiff right hand.

David Johanssen's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Johanssen slips under a jab.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hood looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hood. Johanssen does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robin Hood dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Hood ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johanssen moves away.
No joy there for Johanssen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Johanssen throws a combination that misses

and Hood counters with a head kick that drops Johanssen to the mat! Johanssen scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Johanssen is rocked!
Hood digs a good body shot into Johanssen's ribs.
Oh Johanssen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hood tries to clinch but Johanssen is having none of it.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Hood throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Johanssen is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
