PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Burton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jack Burton!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burton fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Walker looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Burton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Walker doesn't seem bothered though.
Walker keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Burton.
Walker staying out of range there.
Burton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Burton misses with a straight left.
Burton with a hook.
Walker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burton circles away.
Walker slips a jab from Burton.

Walker has taken the fight to the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Walker tries for a takedown but Burton manages to get underhooks.

Walker turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Walker manages to end up in side control.
Burton holding on.
Burton is trying to control Walker's posture but Walker avoids it.
Burton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Walker kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Walker wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burton keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Walker's best efforts.
Burton is not content to let Walker control the position.
Burton is in trouble now - Walker has advanced to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Walker looking to secure an arm triangle but Burton defends it well.
Walker avoids the attempt from Burton to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jack Burton just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Walker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Burton.
Jack Burton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Walker shoots in but Burton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Burton misses with a hook. Walker ducked under it nicely.
Walker shoots in but Burton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Burton throws a hook to the side of Walker's head but Walker sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
No luck for Walker with that takedown attempt.
Walker walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Walker has a takedown stuffed.
Walker is breathing heavily.
Burton lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Walker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Burton.
Nice sprawl there from Burton as Walker shoots in.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt - Burton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burton scores with the left hand. Walker knows he should have avoided that one.
Burton connects with the punch.
Burton throws a jab when Walker was well out of range.
Burton lands a nice looking body shot.
Burton lands an overhand right.
A telegraphed right hand from Burton misses the target.
Burton is looking to clinch but Walker is avoiding it.

Burton sends Walker crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Burton is motioning to the referee to let Walker up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


Walker is rocked!
Burton might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Burton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Burton lands with a shot to the body.
Walker takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A left lands for Burton.
Burton slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Burton lands a big right hand that sends Walker crashing to the mat! Burton stays standing though and waves Walker back to his feet!
Oh Walker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Burton misses the jab.
Burton with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Walker seems to have got his legs back now.
Walker moves out of range as Burton strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burton lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Burton staying out of range there.
Walker moves out of range as Burton strikes.
Nice uppercut there from Burton.
Burton lands a lovely overhand right.
Burton lands a nice hook to Walker's body. Walker takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Walker tries to move into range but Burton moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Burton lands a big right hand that sends Walker crashing to the mat! Burton stays standing though and waves Walker back to his feet!

Burton connects with a looping right hand.

Burton lands a big uppercut and Walker crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Walker looks OK. Burton waves Walker back to his feet!

Burton feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Walker sprawling to the canvas! Walker rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Burton finish him?!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
BOOM! Burton lands a beautiful left hook that drops Walker. Walker tries to recover but Burton is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Walker lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Burton!
