PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bingo Bo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasya Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petrov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls". These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov wants to clinch.
Vasya Petrov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bo looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bo fails with the takedown.

Petrov rushes Bo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Bo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Petrov on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Bo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petrov is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bo wants to get up but he can't break Petrov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bo swats away the attempt to clinch by Petrov.
Petrov fails with the takedown

and Bo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bo.
Bo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Petrov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bo is aware though and is defending well.

Petrov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bo defends it easily.

Bo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Petrov!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bo stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Petrov will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nice takedown defense from Petrov. No joy for Bo on that attempt.
No luck for Petrov with that takedown attempt.
Petrov has his takedown stuffed
and Bo counters with a big head kick but Petrov shrugs it off.
Bingo Bo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vasya Petrov.

Bo clinches with his opponent.
Petrov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bo smiles and moves away.

Petrov gets a clinch.

Petrov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Petrov tries a head kick but it misses.

Petrov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Bo wants to stand and escape but instead Petrov has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Petrov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Petrov tries to bench press Bo off him but Bo keeps the position.
Petrov seems a little lost for a moment, as Bo dominates the positioning.
Petrov is not content to let Bo control the position.
Bo misses with the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Petrov tries to bench press Bo off him but Bo keeps the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Petrov falls off balance throwing a combination

and Bo counters with a shoot takedown. Petrov fights it but they end up in guard.

Petrov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Petrov uses the cage to get back to his feet.
