PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Ludwig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barra Fire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ludwig kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wasp - I wanna be somebody. Jay Ludwig has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ludwig tries to clinch up but Fire circles away and keeps his distance.
Fire fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ludwig avoids it really well and circles away.
Fire displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ludwig throws out the jab.
Fire misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Fire looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ludwig wants to improve his position but Fire is controlling well.

Fire has gone for a leg lock! Ludwig slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fire's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fire is on top in guard.

Fire changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ludwig tries to avoid it but Fire manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ludwig to the ground. Ludwig escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barra Fire dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Fire shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ludwig defends it nicely.
A head kick from Fire lands but Ludwig takes it in his stride.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

A frustrated look appears on Ludwig's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Fire drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ludwig gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jay Ludwig has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barra Fire.

Fire drops down looking for an ankle pick but Ludwig pulls his leg out and moves away.

Fire closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fire is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ludwig is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ludwig throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Fire is putting a hurting on Ludwig here, landing some big shots from side control.
Ludwig is looking to regain half guard here but Fire keeps moving and retains side control.
Fire grinds an elbow into Ludwig's temple.

Fire is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ludwig knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Fire goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Ludwig has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fire but great work by Ludwig.

Ludwig cracks Fire with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Ludwig is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fire is just riding it out for now. Ludwig eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A punch lands to the side of Fire 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Barra Fire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barra Fire showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Barra Fire comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Fire winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
