PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgee is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by McGee. The key to victory for Bruce Lee has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruce Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mcgee on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Lee breaks from the clinch.
Mcgee shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lee defends it nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mcgee.

Lee gets a takedown into half guard.
Mcgee wants to get back to his feet.
Lee wants to stand up but Mcgee has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Lee looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Lee working over Mcgee with some ground and pound. Mcgee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Mcgee has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
Lee throwing shots but Mcgee is blocking nicely.
Lee is just content to waste time from the top position. Mcgee takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Lee missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Lee stands and throws Mcgee's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mcgee is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Lee working the ground and pound from side control.
Mcgee wants to control but Lee postures up.
Lee trying to control the action but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mcgee throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Lee prevents Mcgee from escaping the position.
Lee tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Lee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mcgee knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Lee advances nicely into full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lee controlling the pace for now.
Mcgee is trying to get to the ropes to help him get back to his feet.
Lee avoids the attempt from Mcgee to control.
Mcgee is looking to improve his position but Lee isn't that keen on the idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcgee wants to control but Lee is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Lee decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mcgee is staying active underneath Lee, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Lee tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Lee is just content to waste time from the top position. Mcgee takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Mcgee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lee looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mcgee is one step ahead there.

Mcgee drops back looking for a leg! Lee is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lee manages to kick Mcgee off! Mcgee jumps back into Lee's guard.

Lee trying to strike off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mcgee fails with the takedown

and Lee counters with a shoot takedown. Mcgee fights it but they end up in guard.
Lee scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lee stops Mcgee from standing up.
Lee has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mcgee is proving hard to escape from.
Lee wants to control from the top but Mcgee keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Lee trying to control but Mcgee is working from the bottom.
Lee postures up in Mcgee's guard and throws a big left but Mcgee blocks it.

Lee gets to his feet - Mcgee follows without any prompting.
Mcgee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Lee prevents the takedown attempt.
Bruce Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timothy Mcgee.

Mcgee decides to pull guard.
Mcgee keeping moving, preventing Lee from controlling successfully.
Lee trying to stand up but can't free himself from Mcgee's guard.

Leeis looking to pass into half guard but Mcgee pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Mcgee is in guard.
Mcgee trying to control the position from guard on top but Lee is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lee throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mcgee swats away the attempt to clinch by Lee.

and Lee counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Mcgee is looking for a triangle but Lee pushes his legs off easily.
Lee stops Mcgee from standing up.
Mcgee is breathing heavily.
Lee would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mcgee wants to stand up but Lee is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruce Lee dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Mcgee tries to clinch up.
Timothy Mcgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee digs a good hook to Mcgee's body.
Mcgee stuffs the takedown.
Mcgee tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Lee counters with a left and a right that stings Mcgee.
Lee is looking to clinch.

Lee gets a takedown into half guard.
Lee wants to pass the guard but Mcgee is defending well.
Lee lands with a punch from half guard.
Bruce Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Lee stops Mcgee from getting back to his feet.
Lee wants to pass to mount but Mcgee is defending the position.
Mcgee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Lee decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Mcgee forces Lee back against the ropes and clinches.
Lee stops a takedown attempt from Mcgee.
Mcgee looking for a takedown.
Mcgee takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee.

Mcgee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lee preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lee keeping moving, preventing Mcgee from controlling successfully.
Lee manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mcgee is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Lee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Mcgee is squirming around, avoiding Lee's attempts to control the action.
Lee wants to control but instead Mcgee manages to regain half guard.
Lee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mcgee pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
Lee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Still in half guard, Lee seems content to control.

Lee wants to work for an arm triangle but Mcgee is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lee not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Mcgee pushes Lee off looking to stand but Lee dives back in and keeps control.
Lee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Lee throwing shots but Mcgee is blocking nicely.
Lee is keen to just control but Mcgee is a slippery customer.
Timothy Mcgee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bruce Lee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mcgee tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bruce Lee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
