Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janik Sarkisyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sarkisyan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: "Smack My Bitch Up" by Prodigy. Janik Sarkisyan acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Derrick Waters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Janik Sarkisyan!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waters is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Waters checks a low kick from Sarkisyan.

Waters throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sarkisyan was covering up waiting for the punch and Waters finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Sarkisyan wants to stand up but Waters is controlling him.
Waters lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Sarkisyan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Waters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sarkisyan is looking to stand up but Waters isn't so interested in that idea.

Waters postures up in Sarkisyan's guard and throws a big left but Sarkisyan blocks it.

Waters drops back looking for a leg! Sarkisyan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sarkisyan manages to kick Waters off! Waters jumps back into Sarkisyan's guard.
Sarkisyan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Waters is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Waters looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sarkisyan is fending him off so far but Waters persists. Nope, Sarkisyan circles away and we're back to standing.

Sarkisyan is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Waters is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sarkisyan defends it well.
Waters winds up and cracks Sarkisyan with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Waters is keen to just control but Sarkisyan is a slippery customer.
Sarkisyan wants to get back to his feet.

Waters is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Waters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sarkisyan keeps working.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Waters in particular looking to stall.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Waters shoots for a double leg takedown but Sarkisyan sprawls well. He's pushed Waters's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sarkisyan throws a nice looking combination but Waters bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Waters closes the distance and clinches up with Sarkisyan, looking for a takedown. Waters pushes Sarkisyan against the cage but Sarkisyan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Waters dives in and grabs Sarkisyan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sarkisyan pushes down on Waters's head and hops out.

Waters drops back looking for a leg! Sarkisyan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sarkisyan manages to kick Waters off! Waters jumps back into Sarkisyan's guard.

Waters is landing with some decent strikes but Sarkisyan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
