Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martin Dawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Sotiar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawkins displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sotiar throws out the jab.
Sotiar does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Sotiar looks to land a combination but Dawkins avoids it well.
Dawkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dawkins stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sotiar.
Dawkins throws a big shot that misses.
Sotiar throws a head kick that misses.
Dawkins ducks right into an uppercut from Sotiar.
Sotiar jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Mark Sotiar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sotiar is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dawkins is controlling him.
Dawkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sotiar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Dawkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sotiar seems keen to control Dawkins's posture.
Sotiar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sotiar is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dawkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sotiar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sotiar throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Dawkins shoots for a takedown but Sotiar saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sotiar lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Martin Dawkins has been cut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sotiar, as that shot connected.

Dawkins bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sotiar looks to score with a jab to the body but Dawkins is just out of range.
Sotiar fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dawkins is out of range.
Sotiar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sotiar looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A clash of legs there as Dawkins blocks the low kick.
Sotiar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dawkins moves away.
Sotiar connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Sotiar.
Mark Sotiar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dawkins is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sotiar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Sotiar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dawkins moves away.

and Dawkins counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dawkins is keen to just control but Sotiar is a slippery customer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dawkins throws an overhand right that lands on Sotiar's shoulder, as Sotiar tries to avoid the shot.
Sotiar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dawkins.
Dawkins throws a nice looking combination but Sotiar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sotiar connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Dawkins waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sotiar.

Sotiar throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dawkins avoids the head kick by Sotiar.
Sotiar lands with a nice body punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dawkins takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Sotiar lands a big uppercut and Dawkins crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Dawkins looks OK. Sotiar waves Dawkins back to his feet!

Dawkins is rocked!
Dawkins takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Oh Dawkins is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sotiar throws a leg kick which misses Dawkins's front leg but catches the back leg as Dawkins tries to avoid it.

A big left from Sotiar misses.
Dawkins seems to have got his legs back now.

Sotiar cracks Dawkins with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sotiar has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Dawkins to stand back up!
Dawkins chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sotiar can pounce on him.
Sotiar lands an uppercut, right on the button! Dawkins tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
