PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamarcus Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donatello The dragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The dragon is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cereal Killer by Method Man and Red Man. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamarcus Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donatello The dragon!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The dragon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Johnson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Johnson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura but The dragon is defending well.
Johnson misses with a head shot. The dragon uses the momentum to regain guard.
The dragon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The dragon is pulling down on Johnson's head. It's preventing any offense from Johnson, at least for the moment.

Johnson drops back, looking for a kneebar! The dragon looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. The dragon looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from The dragon!

The dragon misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

The dragon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Johnson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
The dragon throws an elbow but Johnson slips to the side and avoids it well.
Johnson is letting The dragon control him for a moment.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The dragon goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Johnson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in The dragon's guard! Nice work there by Johnson!

Johnson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and The dragon dives on top into guard.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Johnson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. The dragon is trying to defend but Johnson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
The dragon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Johnson looks to land a combination but The dragon avoids it well.
The dragon goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

The dragon throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing The dragon off to one side.

Jamarcus Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Johnson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
