PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danny Vicksone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Kraven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kraven has chosen Back in Black as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Vicksone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Kraven!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kraven misses with a few strikes there.
Kraven keeps the fight on the outside.
Kraven shoots for a takedown but Vicksone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Vicksone tries to clinch but Kraven moves out of range.
Vicksone tries to clinch there but Kraven circles away.
Kraven shoots in looking for a takedown. Vicksone tries to sprawl out of it but Kraven keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vicksone manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kraven closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vicksone to the mat! Vicksone manages to get full guard.

Vicksone looking for a guillotine here but Kraven defends easily.

Vicksone has his foot on Kraven's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kraven works his way back into a safe position though.
Vicksone wants to stand up but Kraven is controlling him.
Vicksone wants to sweep but no luck.

Kraven avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kraven wants to control from the top but Vicksone keeps moving.

Kraven gets to his feet. Vicksone looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Vicksone forces Kraven back against the cage and clinches.
Vicksone unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kraven lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Kraven tries to break the clinch but Vicksone is controlling the position.
Vicksone lands a nice knee to the body.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Kraven tries to pull guard but Vicksone won't allow it.
Danny Vicksone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Kraven.

Kraven is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Vicksone is keeping busy.

Vicksone is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kraven shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Vicksone has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kraven can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Vicksone seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kraven wants to control from the top but Vicksone keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vicksone looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Vicksone counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kraven is lucky that one didn't land flush.
James Kraven is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kraven wants the takedown. Vicksone is fighting it off but Kraven persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Vicksone's guard against the cage.

and Kraven decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vicksone's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Vicksone escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kraven gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vicksone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kraven controls Vicksone momentarily but Vicksone frees himself.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kraven has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Vicksone avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
