Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guibons Shueryuken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Brandao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guibons Shueryuken!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandao fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shueryuken dodges the punch combination from Brandao.
Shueryuken moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Brandao misses with an uppercut.
Shueryuken is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Brandao and Shueryuken goes tumbling to the canvas! Brandao follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.


Shueryuken is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brandao with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Brandao prevents Shueryuken from improving his position.
Shueryuken is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Brandao jumps into side control!

Brandao looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Brandao is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Shueryuken will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Brandao has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Brandao throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Shueryuken sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Brandao uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shueryuken.
No joy there for Brandao, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Brandao shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Brandao seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Brandao thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shueryuken's head.
Shueryuken wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shueryuken is defending against the submission attempts here by Brandao.
Brandao perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Shueryuken tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Brandao slows the pace down in half guard.
Shueryuken pushes Brandao off but Brandao dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brandao connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shueryuken some visible discomfort.

The strikes coming from Brandao are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Shueryuken wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Shueryuken is looking to regain half guard here but Brandao keeps moving and retains side control.
Brandao is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Brandao decides to stand back up. Brandao steps back and let's Shueryuken get back to his feet.

Brandao has closed the distance and engaged Shueryuken in a clinch.
Shueryuken wants to get back to striking at distance but Brandao won't allow it.

Brandao blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Shueryuken is trying to break the clinch but Brandao is controlling him.
Shueryuken unloads a knee to the mid-section. Brandao lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Shueryuken landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Shueryuken looks gassed!

Shueryuken breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shueryuken falls off balance throwing a combination

and Brandao counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shueryuken's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brandao pushing down on Shueryuken's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramon Brandao dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


A jab lands there for Brandao.
Shueryuken takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Brandao drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Shueryuken really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ramon Brandao overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brandao gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Brandao circles away from the clinch attempt

and Brandao counters by clinching up.
Shueryuken is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Brandao lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shueryuken backwards.
Brandao lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Shueryuken backwards.
Brandao pushes Shueryuken back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brandao lands a shoulder strike.
Shueryuken is breathing heavily.
Shueryuken looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Brandao wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Brandao tries to break the clinch but Shueryuken is controlling the position.

Brandao jumps into guard, dragging Shueryuken to the mat.

Brandao looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Shueryuken is defending well. Brandao quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Shueryuken has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Brandao celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ramon Brandao!
