Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between rolf rolfson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Cero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cero is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Slam. rolf rolfson is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, rolf rolfson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ben Cero!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
rolfson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ben Cero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

rolfson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
rolfson controls Cero momentarily but Cero frees himself.
Cero trying to control but rolfson is working from the bottom.
Cero looking to sit in guard and control but rolfson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Cero wants to hit a switch here but rolfson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cero there!

Cero throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
rolfson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cero is looking to escape.
Cero is wriggling around trying to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
rolfson blocks Cero's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Cero working to try and regain half guard.

Cero looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Cero is in bad spot here.
rolfson tries to keep control of the position but Cero is staying busy.
rolfson controlling well, preventing Cero from escaping the position.
Cero just trying to survive but rolfson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
rolfson is hanging on to Cero's back as he tries to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cero looks gassed!
rolfson has good solid back control here.
rolfson is trying to stick to Cero's back but Cero is turning into rolfson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in rolfson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Cero.
Cero advances to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cero is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


rolfson stalks Cero and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cero's face. Cero staggers backwards, shaken.
rolfson fails with the takedown.
rolfson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cero sprawls well. Cero wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. rolfson gets slowly back to his feet.

Cero closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
rolfson is not content to let Cero control the position.
Cero looking to control but instead rolfson has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

rolfson is trying to maintain the position but Cero is very close to passing his half guard.
Cero prevents rolfson from improving his position.
Cero is keen to just control but rolfson is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cero not doing much here.
rolfson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cero wants to work for an arm triangle but rolfson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A chopping leg kick lands by rolfson.

rolfson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Cero counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for rolfson!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for rolf rolfson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cero lands a big shot there that rocks rolfson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Cero jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… rolfson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by rolfson and Cero has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
rolfson tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Cero working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Cero is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. rolfson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Cero swings around for an armbar but rolfson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cero's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Cero showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cero has picked rolfson up - he's going for a ride! Cero dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Cero takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cero trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Cero is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! rolfson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! rolfson has escaped and now he's on top!
rolfson passes Cero's left leg - he's now in half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
rolfson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cero knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Cero tries to get to full guard but rolfson has control of the leg.
rolfson is trying to control the action in half guard but Cero is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Cero is looking for a sweep. rolfson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
rolfson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

and Cero counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for rolfson!

rolfson wants to control but Cero is having none of it.
