The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Points throws out a loose jab but Paiva uses good head movement to avoid it.
Points throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Paiva looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Paiva keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Points scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Paiva on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Points. Points obviously looking to wear him down.

The referee is keeping an eye on Points - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Paiva chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Points can pounce on him.

Paiva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Points walks away with a smile on his face. Paiva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Five Points has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Paiva.
Points wants to clinch up but Paiva keeps it at a distance.
Points slaps away a takedown attempt from Paiva, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Paiva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Paiva takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Points buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Paiva takes one on the button.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Points throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Points closes the distance and clinches.

Paiva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Points as he jumps to the side.

Points really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Paiva's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Points will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Points connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Paiva's hands.

Points looks to land a combination. Paiva sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Paiva wants to pass the guard but Points is keeping the position.

Points is pulling down on Paiva's head. It's preventing any offense from Paiva, at least for the moment.

Paiva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Points is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Paiva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Paiva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Paiva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Points is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Points isn't going anywhere.

Paiva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Points's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Points is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Paiva can do to turn this around?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Paiva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Points, who protects the arm well.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Points can't do much from the bottom here.

Paiva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Points knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Points tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Points, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
