PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Obi Konbi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucky Kid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konbi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Underoath-a fault line a fault of mine. Konbi has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucky Kid!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kid swats away the attempt to clinch by Konbi.
Kid looks to land a left hand but Konbi moved out of range nicely.

Konbi drives through and clinches with Kid against the cage.
Konbi gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kid.
Kid tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Kid manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Kid has his hands on Konbi's head, controlling the position.

Konbi stands up and waves to Kid to follow him.
Nice takedown defense from Konbi. No joy for Kid on that attempt.
A punch combination from Kid misses.

Kid closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Konbi to the mat! Konbi manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kid controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Kid won't allow Konbi to get back to his feet.
Konbi is breathing heavily.
Kid is working Konbi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kid trying to control but Konbi is working from the bottom.
Kid slips nicely into half guard.

Konbi is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kid scores with a couple of nice shots.

It looks like Obi Konbi has been cut.

Kid seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Kid trying to work for an americana but Konbi has managed to regain full guard.
Kid trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kid chips away with some ground and pound.
Kid advances to half guard.
Kid lands strikes from half guard.
Kid is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Kid distracts Konbi with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Kid loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kid trying to control the position from guard on top but Konbi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kid passes into half guard.
Kid frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Konbi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Konbi tries to get out of the position.
Kid lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Konbi has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Konbi covers up after that shot from Kid.

Jeez, Obi Konbi's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Obi Konbi's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
