PBP Commentary

Thomas is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Rocky Thomas has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Barton!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thomas is breathing heavily.
Nice strikes from Barton there.

Barton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Thomas sees it coming and defends easily.
Barton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Thomas with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Barton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Thomas trying to control here.
Barton is nestled in close to Thomas, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Thomas is trying to control but Barton passes into side control!
Barton looks up at the clock and then as Thomas takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barton smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Barton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thomas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Barton is trying to get an arm triangle but Thomas is defending well.

Barton is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thomas is not content to let Barton control the position.
Barton grinds an elbow into Thomas's temple.

Barton is chipping away with strikes.
Barton lands a decent elbow from side control.

Check out the look on Barton's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barton on the ground.
Thomas is looking to regain half guard here but Barton keeps moving and retains side control.
A lull in the action here as Barton stalls from top position.

Barton is working to tighten is grip on Thomas's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Thomas has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Barton is really squeezing tight and eventually Thomas passes out! Barton breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
