Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hank Smoody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucasyno Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucasyno Smart is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hank Smoody!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucasyno Smart!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for Smoody.
Smart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smoody sprawls well. Smoody wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smart gets slowly back to his feet.
Smart needs to keep his hands up - Smoody had a free shot at his head there.
Smart blocks a head kick by Smoody.
Smoody throws a hook but Smart blocks it.
Smoody scores with a three punch combo!
Smoody misses with a looping right.
Smart changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smoody tries to avoid it but Smart manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smoody to the ground. Smoody escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smart takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smoody lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smart will feel that in the morning.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smoody sends Smart crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Smoody is motioning to the referee to let Smart up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Smart seems to have recovered his senses.

Smoody feints and then cracks Smart's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Smart down.
Smoody lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Smart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Smoody's waist but Smoody gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smart off to one side.
Hank Smoody has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucasyno Smart.

Smart uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smoody.
Smoody swings for the body but Smart moves out of range.
Smoody ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smart moves away.
Smoody is looking to wear down Smart with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smoody is trying to stand up here but Smart is controlling him well.

Smart with shots to the head and body - Smoody looks very uncomfortable down there.
Smoody is desperately trying to improve his position but Smart has a good base and remains in mount.

Smart has control of Smoody's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Smoody regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Smart is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Smoody has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Smoody!

Smart seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Smoody wants to stand but Smart has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Smart has Smoody pulled in close to control his posture.

Smart is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smoody is aware though and is defending well.

Lucasyno Smart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Smart is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smart looking to sit in guard and control but Smoody gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Smart wants to sweep here but Smoody controlling him for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smart can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smart shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Smart shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smoody is trying to defend but Smart finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hank Smoody.
