And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kowolski shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kowolski is trying to control the action in half guard but Mitsuharu is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kowolski prevents Mitsuharu from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mitsuharu is working hard here to advance position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mitsuharu wants to get back to full guard but Kowolski has passed into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyo Mitsuharu will probably get the nod.

Nice takedown defense from Mitsuharu. No joy for Kowolski on that attempt.
Kowolski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mitsuharu pinned against the cage. Mitsuharu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mitsuharu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kowolski sprawls well initially but Mitsuharu persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mitsuharu throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mitsuharu wants to pass to mount but Kowolski is defending the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitsuharu perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mitsuharu is thwarting Kowolski's attempts to control the position.
Well, if Mitsuharu is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Mitsuharu wants to take a breather but Kowolski is having none of it.
Mitsuharu wants to pass the guard but Kowolski is defending well.
Mitsuharu wants to control but Kowolski is keeping him busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mitsuharu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mitsuharu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mitsuharu goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kowolski is on top in guard.
Mitsuharu could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mitsuharu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mitsuharu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kowolski as he jumps to the side.

Mitsuharu drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Kowolski wants to control but Mitsuharu postures up.

Mitsuharu is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kowolski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kowolski prevents Mitsuharu from improving position.
Mitsuharu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kowolski keeps working.

Mitsuharu goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Kowolski has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mitsuharu but great work by Kowolski.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mitsuharu is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Kowolski is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Kowolski tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mitsuharu tries to reverse the position but Kowolski maintains control.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kowolski wants to control the pace but Mitsuharu is squirming around nicely.

Mitsuharu sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kowolski is thwarting Mitsuharu's attempts to control the position.

Jake Kowolski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kowolski thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Kyo Mitsuharu showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mitsuharu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
