Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Link Copper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Soboyt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Soboyt will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Link Copper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Johnny Soboyt!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Copper shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Soboyt working a defensive guard here.
Copper wanted to stand there but Soboyt had control of the position.
Soboyt is trying to control the position but Copper postures up.
Copper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Copper trying to control the position from guard on top but Soboyt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Soboyt throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Copper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Copper tries to free his leg and advance position but Soboyt is retaining full guard.
Copper knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Soboyt on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Copper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Copper in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Copper lands a nice short elbow.
Copper slips a nice elbow through Soboyt's hands, connecting with Soboyt's forehead.
Soboyt pushes Copper off looking to stand but Copper dives back in and keeps control.
Copper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Copper throws a combination. Soboyt tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Copper throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Soboyt was covering up waiting for the punch and Copper finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Copper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Copper keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Soboyt's head.
Copper is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Copper drops back looking for a leg! Soboyt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Soboyt manages to kick Copper off! Copper jumps back into Soboyt's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Copper is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Soboyt's half guard.
Soboyt is refusing to be controlled, as Copper sits in half guard.

Copper decides to stand and escape the position.
Copper lands a jab to Soboyt's midsection.

Soboyt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Copper to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Copper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Copper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Soboyt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Copper decides to stand back up. Copper steps back and let's Soboyt get back to his feet.
Soboyt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Copper forces Soboyt back against the cage and clinches.

Copper tries to pull guard but Soboyt holds him up against the cage and eventually Copper drops back down to his feet.

With the fighters up against the cage, Soboyt throws an elbow but misses.
Copper misses with a hook to the ribs.

Copper jumps into guard, dragging Soboyt to the mat.
Copper wants to sweep but no luck.
Copper pulls Soboyt in close to his closed guard and prevents Soboyt from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Copper wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Copper connects with a nice short shot to Soboyt's temple.
Copper tries to pass the half guard into mount. Soboyt knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Soboyt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Copper pulls his head out easily.

Copper winds up and cracks Soboyt with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
