Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Locke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renzo Oliveira will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Locke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Renzo Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira shoots in for a takedown but Locke shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Locke clinches with his opponent.

Locke pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Oliveira shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Locke but Locke pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Locke swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Oliveira drives through with a takedown into guard.
Locke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Locke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Locke wants to stand but Oliveira is controlling the position.
Locke is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Locke wants to get back to his feet but Oliveira is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Locke seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Oliveira for as long as he can get away with.
Oliveira moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Locke is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Locke is looking to advance position but Oliveira won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Locke wants to control but Oliveira is keeping him busy.
Locke seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Locke is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Oliveira defends it well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Oliveira manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Oliveira is looking to stand up but Locke isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A bit of stalling here from Locke.
Oliveira is looking to control Locke's arms but Locke gets an underhook and turns him. Now Oliveira has his back to the cage.

Oliveira can't get the takedown.
John Locke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renzo Oliveira.
Locke blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Oliveira is trying to break the clinch but Locke is controlling him.
Oliveira is working for takedown but Locke is calmly controlling the position for now.
Locke tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Oliveira just stands there and leans against the cage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Horrible takedown by Locke or perhaps it was just good defense by Oliveira which made him look bad.
Oliveira shoots for a double leg takedown but Locke sprawls well. He's pushed Oliveira's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Locke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oliveira keeps working.

John Locke overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oliveira tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Locke wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oliveira is pressing down on Locke's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Oliveira wants to stand but Locke is controlling the position.
Locke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Oliveira is trying to control the position but Locke postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

John Locke showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Locke, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
