Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dre Benjamin!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hellwig slips a jab from Benjamin.
Benjamin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Hellwig fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Benjamin, pushing him back against the cage.
Benjamin wants to break the clinch but can't.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hellwig goes for a takedown attempt but Benjamin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Dre Benjamin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hellwig fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Benjamin manages to avoid it.
Hellwig throws a body punch but Benjamin moves out of range.

Benjamin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Benjamin looks to throw the jab but Hellwig is out of range.
Hellwig is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Benjamin throws out a loose jab but Hellwig uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hellwig is looking to clinch but Benjamin is avoiding it.
Hellwig misses with a series of wild punches.
Hellwig fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A telegraphed right hand from Benjamin misses the target.

Hellwig feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hellwig is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Benjamin can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hellwig won't let Benjamin get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Hellwig is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Benjamin can do to turn this around?
