PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mui Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thompson has chosen Lose Yourself as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a right and a left that Thai avoids nicely.
Thompson lunges at Thai with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Thai's hand.

It looks like Mui Thai has been cut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Thai checks a leg kick.
Thompson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Thai slips a jab and a cross from Thompson.
Thompson moves out of range of the strikes.
Thompson jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Thompson thows a body shot but no joy.

Thai drops his shoulder and cracks Thompson with a huge uppercut! Thompson goes down! Can Thai finish him?

It looks like Tommy Thompson has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thai trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Thai trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Thai will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Thai wants to pass the guard but Thompson is keeping the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thai accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Thai throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Thai slips under a jab.

Thai bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Thompson! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Thompson is rocked!
Thai trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thompson is still in real trouble! Can Thai finish him?
Thai has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Thompson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Thompson seems to have recovered his senses.
Thai wants to pass the guard but Thompson is keeping the position.

Thai decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Thompson, up you get!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Thompson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thai's waist but Thai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Thompson off to one side.
Thompson looks gassed!
Thompson is looking to clinch but Thai is avoiding it.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thai as he jumps to the side.
Thompson ducks under a wild hook from Thai.
Thompson fails to land with a series of punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Thompson. Thai does a little dance to reset his feet.
BOOM! Thai lands a beautiful left hook that drops Thompson. Thompson tries to recover but Thai is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Thompson lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
