Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Bichard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Penn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bichard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penn's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bichard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bichard is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bichard to get the leverage.

Penn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bichard avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kai Bichard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Penn.

Bichard is trying to trip Penn. He has hold of a leg but Penn is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bichard persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bichard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Penn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
