The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Jacobs tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barksdale was well out of range. Poor timing from Jacobs.
Jacobs tries to bum rush Barksdale with a series of wild strikes but Barksdale uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Barksdale throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jacobs's waist but Jacobs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Barksdale off to one side.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Jacobs bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Barksdale's head backwards.
Barksdale changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jacobs tries to avoid it but Barksdale manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jacobs to the ground. Jacobs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
