PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Downey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jeffrey Silva has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jack Downey!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Downey gets the takedown into side control.
Silva gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Downey is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Silva off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Silva gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Silva apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Downey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Silva's guard.
Downey is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.
Silva wants to stand up but Downey is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Downey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Downey seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Downey wants to free his trapped foot but Silva is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Silva parries the strikes from Downey easily there. Downey is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Silva to escape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jack Downey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silva is working for a rear naked choke. Downey is not defending it well and Silva has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Downey refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Downey's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
