PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Hayz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg The Phenom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hayz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hollywood Undead - Dead in Ditches. Greg The Phenom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dustin Hayz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg The Phenom!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hayz misses with a few strikes there.
The Phenom buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The Phenom gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The Phenom keeping moving, preventing Hayz from controlling successfully.

Hayz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hayz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hayz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and The Phenom dives on top into guard.

The Phenom drops back looking for a leg! Hayz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hayz manages to kick The Phenom off! The Phenom jumps back into Hayz's guard.

The Phenom wants to free his trapped foot but Hayz is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The Phenom seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The Phenom is trying to control the action in half guard but Hayz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
It looks like The Phenom is going to stand back up.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The Phenom will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hayz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has The Phenom pinned against the cage. The Phenom gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The Phenom fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hayz.
Greg The Phenom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hayz closes the distance and clinches.
Hayz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. The Phenom just stands there and leans against the cage.
The Phenom lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A nice glancing elbow lands by The Phenom.
The Phenom is looking to break free of the clinch but Hayz has double underhooks.

The Phenom breaks from the clinch.
Hayz takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
The Phenom throws out a leg kick but Hayz moves out of range and The Phenom only half commits.

Hayz shoots in looking for a takedown. The Phenom tries to sprawl out of it but Hayz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. The Phenom manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hayz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. The Phenom avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Hayz has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed The Phenom clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Hayz cracks The Phenom with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing The Phenom from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

The Phenom is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hayz gets his way!
