PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mr Jobber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Stokes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jobber has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mr Jobber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Stokes!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stokes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Stokes with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Stokes's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Stokes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Stokes is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jobber throws a strike from the bottom but Stokes passes into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jobber could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jobber gives up his back whilst trying to strike.
Stokes controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brad Stokes just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jobber tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Stokes keeps the fight on the outside.
Jobber is breathing heavily.

Stokes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Stokes scoring with punches and elbows.
The referee asks Stokes politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Stokes prefers to stall for the moment though.

Stokes is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Jobber is trying to escape and Stokes transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Jobber is forced to tap! Nice work there by Stokes! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Brad Stokes!
