Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonny Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernandez has chosen Marea - Perro verde as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapman shoots for a takedown but Fernandez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Chapman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fernandez pinned against the cage. Fernandez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fernandez wants to clinch up but Chapman keeps it at a distance.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Chapman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Fernandez pulls his head out easily.
Fernandez winds up and cracks Chapman with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chapman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fernandez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chapman defends it well.
Fernandez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chapman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fernandez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Chapman wants to get up but he can't break Fernandez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Fernandez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Chapman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Fernandez looks to land a combination. Chapman sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fernandez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chapman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fernandez somewhat.

Chapman drops back looking for a leg! Fernandez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fernandez manages to kick Chapman off! Chapman jumps back into Fernandez's guard.

Juan Fernandez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Fernandez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
