The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fairtex sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Fairtex closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Silva's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Fairtex wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Fairtex wants to stand but Silva is controlling his posture from full guard.

Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fairtex defends well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fairtex swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Silva counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fairtex shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silva clobbers Fairtex with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fairtex to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Silva is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Fairtex has his hands clasped together but Silva extends an breaks Fairtex's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Silva.
