PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Austin Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Bosse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duran kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Still Fly. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Duran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Bosse!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duran lands a nice looking body shot.
Bosse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duran paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Bosse shoots in looking for a takedown. Duran tries to sprawl out of it but Bosse keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duran manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A slow jab from Duran misses its intended target.
Bosse looks for a takedown but Duran sprawls well.
Bosse lands a two punch combo.
Horrible takedown by Bosse or perhaps it was just good defense by Duran which made him look bad.
Austin Duran has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Bosse.
Duran is breathing heavily.
Bosse tries to clinch but Duran moves out of range.
Bosse sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Bosse swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bosse drives through and clinches with Duran against the cage.
Bosse prevents the takedown attempt.
Bosse can't break the clinch.

Duran breaks the clinch.
Duran stuffs the takedown attempt from Bosse. Bosse gets slowly back to his feet.
Bosse tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Duran will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bosse fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Bosse shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Duran pinned against the cage. Duran gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Bosse closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duran circles away.
Duran shoots in looking for a takedown. Bosse tries to sprawl out of it but Duran keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bosse manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Steve Bosse seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Duran counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Bosse tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duran paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bosse shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Duran counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bosse avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Duran.

Duran is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bosse is just riding it out for now. Duran eventually gives up the hold.
Duran throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Duran wants to pass the guard but Bosse is defending well.
Duran seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Duran is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bosse defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duran thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bosse's head.
Duran perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Duran's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bosse lands with a shot to the body.
Bosse tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Duran counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Duran is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Duran thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Duran will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Duran trying to control the action but Bosse is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bosse is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duran pulls his head out easily.

Duran is thwarting Bosse's attempts to control the position.
Duran lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Duran is looking for a kimura here.
Bosse wants to get back to full guard but Duran has passed into side control.
Bosse is trying to escape the mount.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
A nice elbow there by Duran.
Duran raining down shots from the mount!
Bosse regains half guard.
Duran wants to free his trapped foot but Bosse is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Well, if Duran is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Duran has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Duran has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bosse is trying to stand.
Bosse tries to roll over but Duran keeps him under control.
Duran with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Bosse wants to control but Duran is keeping busy.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bosse wants to improve his position but Duran is controlling well.
Bosse is trying to control but can't.
Bosse is trying to stand up here but Duran is controlling him well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bosse throws a right and a left that both miss.
Nice uppercut there from Bosse.
Bosse lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bosse fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Duran throws a body punch but Bosse moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin Duran dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Duran shoots for a takedown but Bosse saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Duran tries to keep at a distance but Bosse has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bosse lands a right hand.
The referee is keeping an eye on Bosse - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Bosse has Duran pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Duran manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Bosse breaks from the clinch.

Bosse closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bosse lands in his opponent's guard.
Duran is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bosse controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Duran wants to sweep but no luck.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Duran keeping moving, preventing Bosse from controlling successfully.

Bosse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duran has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bosse has managed to get both his arms back between Duran's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Duran has control of Bosse's left arm, preventing Bosse from doing any damage.
Duran bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bosse's guard.
Bosse trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Bosse is trying to control the position but Duran postures up.

Duran drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bosse looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bosse looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bosse!
Bosse tries to stand but Duran is controlling his head.
Duran misses with an elbow from the bottom.

Duran is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bosse off and has taken his back!
Duran lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Duran.
Duran is hanging on to Bosse's back as he tries to escape.

Duran looking to break Bosse's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Bosse remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Duran will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Duran is trying to stick to Bosse's back but Bosse is turning into Duran. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Duran's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bosse.
Bosse must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Duran has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Duran is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Bosse wants to pass the guard but Duran is keeping the position.

Duran looking for a triangle here. Bosse is fighting it but it looks tight! Duran pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Bosse is tapping out - this one is all over!
