PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aimo Nujakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickle Randelman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nujakka's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Chopin - Funeral March. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Randelman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Randelman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nujakka looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nujakka looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nujakka!
Nujakka wants to stand but Randelman is controlling his arm.
Nujakka wants to control but Randelman is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nujakka wants to control for a moment but Randelman uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Randelman is positioning himself well to prevent Nujakka advancing to mount.
Nujakka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Randelman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Randelman is looking to escape.
Randelman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Randelman pushes Nujakka off and gets back to his feet.
Nujakka moves in looking to clinch but Randelman pushes him off.
Nujakka loads up on a big right hand but Randelman slips the punch.

Randelman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nujakka sprawls well initially but Randelman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Randelman prevents Nujakka from standing back up.
Nujakka is looking to control Randelman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nujakka avoid being mounted?
Nujakka tries to roll over but Randelman keeps him under control.
Randelman is thwarting Nujakka's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Randelman scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Randelman wants to advance to full mount but Nujakka doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Nujakka throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Randelman.

Randelman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Nujakka wants to stand up but Randelman is controlling him.
Randelman with a flurry of punches that miss.

Randelman throws a strike but Nujakka rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Randelman looks to land a strike but Nujakka avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nujakka misses with a series of wild punches.

Randelman throws and elbow that misses. Nujakka uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Randelman's guard. Nice move by Nujakka!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nujakka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Randelman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Randelman is looking to stand up but Nujakka isn't so interested in that idea.

Mickle Randelman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nujakka lands a glancing blow to the side of Randelman's head.
Nujakka throws a right and a left that Randelman avoids nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Randelman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nujakka is now in Randelman's guard. A big mistake from Randelman there, giving up the dominant position!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Randelman is looking to stand up but Nujakka isn't so interested in that idea.

Nujakka keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Randelman's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Randelman is defended easily by Nujakka.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Nujakka works over Randelman's head and body with a nice combination.
Randelman doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Randelman takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Aimo Nujakka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nujakka looks to land a combination but Randelman avoids it well.
Nujakka throws a right and a left that both miss.

Aimo Nujakka has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nujakka lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Randelman walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Nujakka throws a nice looking combination but Randelman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mickle Randelman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Randelman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aimo Nujakka.
I think Randelman has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
