PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mabishiro Sakamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King Kong looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, King Kong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mabishiro Sakamoto!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kong looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Kong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Sakamoto gets a takedown into half guard.
Sakamoto has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Sakamoto stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Kong really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kong throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
King Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kong throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Sakamoto's head.
Kong scoring well with a low kick there.
Sakamoto tries to close the distance and clinch but Kong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kong is looking to slow Sakamoto down with leg kicks.
Kong throws a head kick that Sakamoto semi-blocks.
Danga de danga de dang - Kong scores with a four punch combination!

Sakamoto darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kong has a hand on Sakamoto's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Sakamoto takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Sakamoto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sakamoto is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Kong is in real trouble.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Sakamoto.
Sakamoto is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Kong knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakamoto on the ground.
You can see the frustration on Kong's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Kong is trying to get back to his feet but Sakamoto has full control of the position and if anything, Kong has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Sakamoto just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Kong is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Sakamoto gets his way!

Sakamoto gets his hands free as Kong looks to control.
Kong tries to break free.
Kong wants to control his opponent's hands but Sakamoto gets his hands free.
Kong rolls, trying to escape but Sakamoto keeps control of the position.
Kong is working hard here to advance position.
Sakamoto avoiding Kong 's attempts to control his hands.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kong wants to escape the position.

Sakamoto has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Kong! Can he survive? No! He's out! Sakamoto gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mabishiro Sakamoto!
