The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodgers shoots in looking for a takedown. Gavin tries to sprawl out of it but Rodgers keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gavin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gavin misses with a leg kick.
Gavin stuffs the takedown.

Rodgers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gavin but Gavin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Dennis Gavin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Rodgers.

Rodgers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Gavin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Dennis Gavin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Rodgers shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gavin is trying to defend but Rodgers finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Gavin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Gavin gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Gavin throws an overhand right that lands on Rodgers's shoulder, as Rodgers tries to avoid the shot.

Gavin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rodgers to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gavin pulls Rodgers in close to his closed guard and prevents Rodgers from doing any damage or advancing position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rodgers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rodgers won't allow Gavin to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gavin lands a jab to the head.
Gavin fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rodgers on the side of the head.

Gavin feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Rodgers sprawling to the canvas! Rodgers rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gavin finish him?!

Rodgers is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gavin closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Rodgers out cold! Rodgers corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
