PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sonny Corleone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glass Bong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Corleone might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Godfather Waltz. Sonny Corleone has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Corleone moves into the clinch successfully.
Bong drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Corleone gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bong is trying to break the clinch but Corleone has him pressed against the cage.

Bong jumps into guard, dragging Corleone to the mat.

Bong has his foot on Corleone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corleone works his way back into a safe position though.
Bong has momentary wrist control but Corleone slips an elbow through the middle.

Corleone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Corleone loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bong looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Bong working for a triangle but Corleone defends it easily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Corleone gets to his feet - Bong follows without any prompting.

Bong swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bong throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice takedown defense from Bong. No joy for Corleone on that attempt.
Glass Bong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bong takes a swing at Corleone's ribcage but misses.
Corleone tries to close the distance and clinch but Bong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bong throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bong misses with a series of wild punches.
Bong plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Corleone wants to clinch.

Corleone distracts Bong with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bong avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Corleone postures up.

Corleone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Corleone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Corleone gets to his feet. Bong looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Bong pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bong swings for the body but Corleone moves out of range.
Bong tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Corleone was well out of range. Poor timing from Bong.
Bong tries to bum rush Corleone with a series of wild strikes but Corleone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bong looks gassed!

Bong misses with an uppercut. Corleone saw that one coming.
Bong misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bong dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bong throws an overhand right that lands on Corleone's shoulder, as Corleone tries to avoid the shot.
Bong looks to land a left hand but Corleone moved out of range nicely.
A combination from Bong does no damage.
Bong is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Corleone rather than just go for the knockout.
Bong throws a body punch but Corleone moves out of range.
Corleone changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bong tries to avoid it but Corleone manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bong to the ground. Bong escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sonny Corleone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bong ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Corleone moves away.
Corleone tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bong swivels and escapes.
Bong bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bong swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Corleone moves into the clinch.
Bong is working for takedown but Corleone is calmly controlling the position for now.
Bong tries to pull guard but Corleone holds him up against the cage and eventually Bong drops back down to his feet.
Corleone has Bong pushed against the cage.

Bong gets control of Corleone's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bong will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Bong is looking for a triangle but Corleone pushes his legs off easily.

Corleone avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bong utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Corleone cracks Bong with a solid left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sonny Corleone dominated that round.
That's time! Corleone's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bong throws an overhand right that lands on Corleone's shoulder, as Corleone tries to avoid the shot.
Bong thows a body shot but no joy.
Bong tries a head kick but it misses.

Corleone scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bong gets back to half guard.
Bong wants to control but Corleone is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Corleone throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Corleone is trying to work for a kimura but Bong is defending well.

Corleone is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bong sees it coming and defends easily.
Bong trying to hold on to Corleone's head to control him but Corleone postures up.
The fighters are battling for position here. Bong manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Corleone drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Bong dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bong tries to free his leg and advance position but Corleone is retaining full guard.

Corleone working for a triangle but Bong defends it easily.
Corleone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bong controls the pace.
Corleone keeping moving, preventing Bong from controlling successfully.
Corleone on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Corleone tries to get out of the position.

Bong drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Corleone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bong has Corleone in his guard.

Corleone is posturing up here but Bong has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Corleone tries to roll out but it's too tight and Corleone has to tap! Slick submission there by Bong!
