Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Sergai Poujanofski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Odd Ivarov! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ivarov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Odd Ivarov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Poujanofski shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ivarov napping and manages to drive through into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Poujanofski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ivarov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Poujanofski sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ivarov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Ivarov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poujanofski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Poujanofski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ivarov, who protects the arm well. Ivarov is working to avoid the ground and pound but Poujanofski connects with a decent elbow. Poujanofski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Poujanofski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! That's one minute gone in the round. Poujanofski is trying to get an arm triangle but Ivarov is defending well. Ivarov is looking for a sweep. Poujanofski is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ivarov has escaped the position, nice work there. Ivarov dodges the ground and pound from Poujanofski. Poujanofski misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Poujanofski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Poujanofski is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ivarov explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Ivarov paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
It looks like Sergai Poujanofski has been cut. Ivarov throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ivarov leaves Poujanofski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ivarov misses with a series of wild punches.
Odd Ivarov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ivarov lands a big head kick that sends Poujanofski tumbling to the mat! Ivarov takes a step backwards and waves Poujanofski back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Poujanofski is rocked! Poujanofski is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Ivarov doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Poujanofski crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Poujanofski's bad books for that mishap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Odd Ivarov!
