The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Dad, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dad waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Staton.

Dad really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Dad darts in trying to clinch
and Staton counters with a left and a right that stings Dad.
Staton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dad as he jumps to the side.

and Staton counters with a stiff right hand.
Staton tries to bum rush Dad with a series of wild strikes but Dad uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dad swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Staton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Dad misses with a hook. Staton ducked under it nicely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Dad goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Staton turns into him and now he's in Dad's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Staton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Staton lands a big shot there that rocks Dad but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
