PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Veneda S (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermaine Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Veneda S!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jermaine Williams!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
S pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Williams on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by S. S obviously looking to wear him down.
Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but S sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Williams showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from S.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. S tries to avoid it but Williams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag S to the ground. S escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Williams dives in and grabs S's left leg, looking for a takedown. S pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.
Veneda S has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermaine Williams.
S fails to land with a series of punches.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from S.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A jab from S finds it's way through Williams's defenses.
S keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Williams misses with a takedown attempt - S sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
S scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says S as he avoids it easily.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt.
Veneda S seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
S looks to land a left hand but Williams moved out of range nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
S fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
S with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veneda S dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Williams tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Williams takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Williams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

S misses with a two punch combination.

Williams on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
A shot to de liver by S. Beautiful body shot.
Williams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from S.
S misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Williams shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has S pinned against the cage. S gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Williams shoots in but no luck this time.
Veneda S has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermaine Williams.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams dives in and grabs S's left leg, looking for a takedown. S pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.
Williams takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but S swivels and escapes.
S misses with a two punch combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
S with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
S punishes Williams's body with a nice straight punch.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Williams fails with a takedown attempt.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from S.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Veneda S dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A nice combination there by S.
Williams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but S avoids it really well and circles away.
S tries a head kick but it misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with S but S pushes him off and we're back to square one.
S fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Williams checks a leg kick nicely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
S cracks Williams with a right hand to the side of the head.
S jabs Williams right on the nose. Williams blinks but takes it well.
S lands with a nice combination. Williams backs away looking to recover.
S getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A lazy left from S finds it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
S lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
S looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Williams is trying desperately to land a takedown but S is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Williams.
S scores with a jab to the jaw.
S lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
S is looking to slow Williams down with leg kicks.
S lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Williams backs up against the cage.
Veneda S is winning the standup battle so far.
S displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Jermaine Williams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Williams is defended easily by S.

And that's the end of the fight!
Veneda S showed his dominance in that final round.
Well S has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
