PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jossip Broz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andy Hug (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Andy Hug was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jossip Broz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andy Hug!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Broz looks to score with a jab to the body but Hug is just out of range.

Hug gets a takedown into half guard.

Hug is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Broz sees it coming and defends easily.

Hug is working for a kimura but Broz is defending it quite comfortably.
Hug is looking to take a break and control but Broz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hug seems to be working for a kimura but Broz defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are battling for position here. Broz manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hug wants to stand but Broz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hug trying to control but Broz is working from the bottom.
Hug throwing strikes but missing.
Broz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Broz is breathing heavily.

Broz kicks Hug off and gets to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Broz with a nice cross.
Hug moves out of range as Broz strikes.

Hug shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Broz is trying to defend but Hug finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Hug perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hug uses his free foot to push down on Broz's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Broz.
Hug trying to control but Broz is having none of it.

Hug swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Broz is now in Hug's guard. A big mistake from Hug there, giving up the dominant position!

Hug trying to control the position.
Hug wants to sweep here but Broz controlling him for the moment.
Broz wants to pass the guard but Hug is keeping the position.
Broz tries to stand but Hug is controlling from the bottom.
Hug wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hug is on top in guard.
Hug is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Broz trying to keep a closed guard but Hug is proving a slippery customer.

Hug drops back, looking for a kneebar! Broz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Broz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Broz!

Broz decides to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Hug dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hug looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Hug shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hug prevents Broz from improving his position.
Hug prevents Broz from standing back up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hug seems to be working for a kimura but Broz defends the submission attempt.
Broz holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Hug is pressing down on Broz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Broz is holding on for now.
Hug is trying to control. Broz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hug seems to be looking for submissions.
Broz trying to control from the bottom.
Hug wants to control but Broz is keeping him busy.
Hug passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Broz!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Broz tries to hold on but Hug postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hug is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Hug extends the arm and Broz is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Andy Hug!
