Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ongoto Kakala!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kakala.

Kakala rushes Sosa and presses him up against the cage.
Sosa will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kakala up against the cage.

Sammy Sosa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ongoto Kakala.
Kakala fails to pull guard.
Kakala has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sosa is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Sosa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kakala blocks a head kick by Sosa.
Kakala misses with a takedown attempt - Sosa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kakala closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sosa circles away.

Kakala gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sosa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sosa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kakala looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Sosa stays in close to Kakala's body and controls the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kakala tries for a takedown but Sosa circles away easily

and Sosa counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Kakala!
Sosa is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kakala can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Kakala is trying to escape the mount.

Sosa has control of Kakala's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kakala regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sosa looking to control but Kakala is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kakala manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Sosa is thwarting Kakala's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sosa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kakala keeps working.
Kakala is looking for a sweep. Sosa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kakala slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kakala is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sosa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kakala frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kakala working for a guillotine from mount but Sosa is in no mood to give up.
Sosa is squirming around, avoiding Kakala's attempts to control the action.

Kakala is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sosa has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Kakala controlling from the full mount.

Kakala with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kakala prevents Sosa from getting the reversal.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kakala working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Sosa looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Kakala! Submission of the night perhaps?
