Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Iwamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ringo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rude Boy. Yoshihiro Iwamura has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yoshihiro Iwamura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Ringo!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ringo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Iwamura tries to clinch but Ringo moves out of range.

Iwamura shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Iwamura showed some decent athleticism there.

Iwamura stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Ringo has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Iwamura.
Ringo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Iwamura.
Iwamura throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ringo tries to clinch up but Iwamura circles away and keeps his distance.
Ringo misses with a wild body shot.
Iwamura has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Ringo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Iwamura's hands.
Iwamura pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ringo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ringo shoots in and drives through. Iwamura sprawls well.

and Ringo counters with a shoot takedown. Iwamura fights it but they end up in guard.

Ringo tries to free his leg and advance position but Iwamura is retaining full guard.
Iwamura wants to stand and escape but Ringo is having none of it.
Ringo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Iwamura swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Iwamura is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ringo wants to control from the top but Iwamura keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ringo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Iwamura has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Iwamura and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Iwamura shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Iwamura is breathing heavily.
Ringo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Iwamura is controlling him.
Ringo is trying to control the position but Iwamura postures up.

Ringo is working an open guard so Iwamura takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Ringo throws a front kick aimed at Iwamura's knee but Iwamura avoids it well.

Ringo tries to kick Iwamura off but Iwamura keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Iwamura is just content to waste time from the top position. Ringo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Ringo wriggles free and stands up.
Ringo doesn't manage to clinch there - Iwamura circles away.

Ringo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Iwamura has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ringo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Iwamura is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ringo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Iwamura to the mat. Iwamura regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ringo wants to control from the top but Iwamura keeps moving.

Ringo postures up in Iwamura's guard and throws a big left but Iwamura blocks it.

Ringo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ringo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ringo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Iwamura works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Ringo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ringo throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Iwamura counters with a good low kick that Ringo was not able to check.
Ringo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ringo throws a sloppy head kick and Iwamura moves out of range easily.
Ringo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Iwamura circles away from the clinch attempt.
Iwamura fails with a takedown attempt.
Iwamura shoots and misses
and Ringo counters with a two punch combo.
Ringo scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Ringo misses with a few strikes there.

Ringo takes the fight into the clinch.

Iwamura is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ringo is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Iwamura to the mat. Iwamura regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Ringo lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Iwamura will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Ringo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ringo tries to circle away but Iwamura has him pinned against the ropes.

Ringo works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Iwamura can't keep his opponent in guard - Ringo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Ringo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Yoshihiro Iwamura is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ringo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ringo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Iwamura is in a horrible position here. Ringo smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Ringo with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Ringo scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Iwamura gets back to half guard.

Ringo postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Iwamura to stand up.

Ringo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Iwamura manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Johnny Ringo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Ringo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Iwamura.

Ringo manages to get to full guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ringo in particular looking to stall.

Let's hope that Ringo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Yoshihiro Iwamura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Johnny Ringo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ringo moves into range and clinches up with Iwamura.
Ringo pressing his opponent against the ropes.
Iwamura jumps guard but Ringo stands there with Iwamura around his waist. Iwamura gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Ringo is trying to break the clinch but Iwamura is controlling him.
Iwamura pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
Ringo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Iwamura backwards.
Ringo has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Iwamura.

Ringo gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Ringo passes to side control.
Iwamura misses with an elbow from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Johnny Ringo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ringo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
