Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dixon comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Joker and the Thief, Wolfmother kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Gabriel Lopez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gabriel Lopez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dixon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Lopez trying to control but Dixon postures up.
Dixon stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lopez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Dixon controlling the pace.
Lopez wants to control but Dixon is keeping busy.
Lopez misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dixon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lopez wants to control but Dixon passes into side.
You can see the frustration on Lopez's face as Dixon controls the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dixon moves into full mount!
Lopez wants to hold on but Dixon pushes him away.
Dixon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dixon controlling the position easily from mount.
Lopez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Dixon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Dixon closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lopez to the mat! Lopez manages to get full guard.
Dixon trying to control the position from guard on top but Lopez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lopez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lopez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Dixon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ryan Dixon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lopez slips a straight right by Dixon.

so Dixon counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Lopez striking off his back but it's not causing Dixon any problems.

Lopez is looking for a triangle but Dixon pushes his legs off easily.

Lopez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dixon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dixon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Lopez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Dixon uses it to pass to side control.
Lopez prevents Dixon from moving into mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dixon controls the position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Dixon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dixon.

Dixon gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Dixon lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Lopez.

Dixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lopez throws a nice looking combination but Dixon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Lopez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Dixon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lopez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dixon to score an easy takedown into full guard.
