PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mass Ive (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joerg Renken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joerg Renken told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ive fails with a takedown attempt.

Ive tries for a takedown but Renken sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mass Ive. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Renken slips a jab and a cross from Ive.

Renken leaves Ive with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ive shoots in looking for a takedown. Renken tries to sprawl out of it but Ive keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Renken manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ive misses with a double jab
and Renken counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Mass Ive has been cut.
Ive closes the distance and clinches up with Renken, looking for a takedown. Ive pushes Renken against the cage but Renken circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Renken counters with a nice right hand that sends Ive toppling to the canvas! Ive scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Renken finish him?!

Ive shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Renken but Renken pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Oh Ive is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Ive seems to have got his legs back now.
Renken throws a nice looking combination but Ive bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Renken throws a series of punches but Ive avoids them all with ease.

Ive closes the distance and clinches up with Renken, looking for a takedown. Ive pushes Renken against the cage but Renken circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ive shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Renken as he avoids it easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Ive misses the target.
Renken cracks Ive on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Ive falls backwards against the cage. Renken follows up with more strikes that drop Ive to his knees. Renken keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Ive! This one is all over!
