PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dwyane Shook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Harvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harvin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: "Mouth For War" by Pantera. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shook swats away the attempt to clinch by Harvin.

Shook has Harvin up against the cage in a clinch.
Shook avoids a wild elbow strike from Harvin.

Harvin breaks from the clinch.
Harvin looks to land a left hand but Shook moved out of range nicely.
Harvin thows a left - swing and a miss!
Harvin throws a sloppy head kick and Shook moves out of range easily.

Harvin lands a big head kick that sends Shook tumbling to the mat! Harvin takes a step backwards and waves Shook back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Dwyane Shook has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harvin takes the fight into the clinch.
Shook prevents Harvin from breaking the clinch.
Shook using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Harvin has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Shook stalling in the clinch but Harvin improves position.

Shook is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Harvin is pressed up against the cage. Shook has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Harvin down to the mat. Harvin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Harvin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Shook takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Harvin counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Harvin moves forwards but Shook connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Harvin throws a right and a left that both miss.
Harvin swats away the attempt to clinch by Shook.
Harvin tries to close the distance and clinch but Shook swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Shook shoots in for a takedown but Harvin shows good takedown defense.

Jab, jab by Harvin - just one landing.
Shook tries to clinch up.
Harvin scores with a decent looking hook.
Shook wants to clinch up but Harvin keeps it at a distance.

Harvin circles away from the clinch attempt.
Harvin swats away the attempt to clinch by Shook.

Harvin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shook was covering up waiting for the punch and Harvin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Shook fakes the leg kick and cracks Harvin in the body.

Some bone on bone action there as Shook checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Shook takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Shook lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Harvin counters with a shoot takedown. Shook fights it but they end up in guard.

Harvin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shook gets control of Harvin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shook will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harvin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shook manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Harvin has Shook in his guard.

Harvin feints and as Shook raises his hands in defense, Harvin changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Harvin chips away with some ground and pound.
Harvin wants to stand but Shook is controlling his posture from full guard.

Harvin stands and steps away. Shook gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Shook drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Harvin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Harvin cracks Shook with an open hand slap.
Harvin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shook.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Shook throws a sloppy head kick and Harvin moves out of range easily.
Mitchell Harvin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Mitchell Harvin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Harvin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
