Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Belanger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartman thuds a left hand into Belanger's body.
Cartman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Belanger sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Belanger takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Cartman drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

It looks like Joe Belanger has been cut.
Cartman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Belanger sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Belanger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cartman misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Belanger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cartman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Belanger manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cartman's best efforts.

Belanger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Belanger controls Cartman momentarily but Cartman frees himself.

Cartman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cartman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Belanger with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Joe Belanger's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
