Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George St Piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Wood!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Richard Clark and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

St Piere scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
St Piere tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wood's legs.
St Piere wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.
St Piere misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St Piere tries to advance to mount but can't.
St Piere throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
St Piere is looking to take a break and control but Wood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

St Piere throws an elbow but Wood slips to the side and avoids it well.
St Piere has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Wood!
Wood holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as St Piere tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Wood tries to hold on but St Piere pushes him away.
St Piere looking to control but Wood is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

St Piere is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Wood is surviving well by controlling St Piere's body position as best he can.
St Piere thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
St Piere wants to take his opponent's back but Wood doesn't allow it.
St Piere tries to control but Wood wriggling away.

St Piere avoids the attempt from Wood to control.
Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with St Piere. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
St Piere is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wood is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wood leaves St Piere with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wood throws a head kick that misses.
St Piere fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Wood connects with a body shot.
St Piere shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Wood is breathing heavily.
St Piere shoots in looking for a takedown. Wood tries to sprawl out of it but St Piere keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wood tries to clinch but St Piere is having none of it.
Wood lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

St Piere works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
St Piere wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wood keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wood wants to control but St Piere is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Wood is refusing to be controlled, as St Piere sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with St Piere in particular looking to stall.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

St Piere changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that George St Piere will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


St Piere shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wood as he jumps to the side.

St Piere feints and as Wood raises his hands in defense, St Piere changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
St Piere wants to pass the guard but Wood is keeping the position.

St Piere drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wood looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wood looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wood!
St Piere is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wood's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Wood is looking for a kimura here.
Wood takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

St Piere is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Wood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. St Piere swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wood is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! St Piere is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! St Piere has escaped and now he's on top!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

St Piere shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wood napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Chris Wood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
George St Piere is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
St Piere cracks Wood with a big right hand but Wood just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

And that's the end of the fight!
George St Piere showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for St Piere, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
