The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Areeno.
Mendez avoids the body shot from Areeno.
Areeno just misses with a punch to the body.
Areeno ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away.
Areeno lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Areeno slaps away a takedown attempt from Mendez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Areeno connects with a body shot.
Mendez moves in looking to clinch but Areeno pushes him off.
Areeno misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Mendez looks for a takedown but Areeno sprawls well.
Mendez looks gassed!
Areeno tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mendez was well out of range. Poor timing from Areeno.
No joy there for Areeno, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Areeno connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Areeno, as that shot connected.

Areeno cracks Mendez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Areeno throws a combination. Mendez tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Steve Areeno has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Moy Mendez.
Areeno throws a leg kick but Mendez sees it coming and moves out of range.

Mendez is trying desperately to land a takedown but Areeno is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Mendez.

Areeno lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Areeno throws a series of strikes that have Mendez backpedaling.

Mendez is rocked!

Steve Areeno is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

BOOM! Areeno lands a beautiful left hook that drops Mendez. Mendez tries to recover but Areeno is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Mendez lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
