Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karsa Orlong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Karsa Orlong!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rogers shoots in and drives through. Orlong sprawls well.

Rogers drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rogers is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rogers wanted to stand there but Orlong had control of the position.
Orlong wants to stand but Rogers is controlling the position.
Rogers not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rogers won't allow Orlong to sweep him here.
Rogers prevents Orlong from getting back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rogers looking to sit in guard and control but Orlong gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Orlong postures up in Rogers's guard and throws a big left but Rogers blocks it.
Orlong throws a big right hand that misses.
Rogers wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Orlong looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Orlong closes the distance and clinches.
Rogers stalling.
Orlong is pressed up against the cage. Rogers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Orlong down to the mat. Orlong avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Orlong gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Rogers is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Rogers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Orlong is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rogers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rogers's back!

Orlong lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Orlong has the hooks in. Rogers is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Orlong throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.
Orlong is striking from the back but Rogers escapes and manages to recover to half guard.
Rogers is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Orlong wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rogers keeps working.
Rogers is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Orlong misses with a takedown

and Rogers counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rogers.

Orlong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rogers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rogers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Orlong on the ground.

Rogers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Orlong wants to control from the top but Rogers keeps moving.
Rogers wants to get back to his feet but Orlong is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Orlong lands a jab-cross combination.
Orlong's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Orlong duly obliges.


It looks like Shawn Rogers has been cut.
Orlong displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rogers.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Orlong postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Shawn Rogers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rogers is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Rogers doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Orlong counters with a head kick. That will keep Rogers thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Orlong falls off balance throwing a combination

and Rogers counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rogers is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Orlong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rogers seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Orlong for as long as he can get away with.

Rogers has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rogers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
