PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joe Blammo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Babuino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blammo has Babuino up against the cage in a clinch.
Blammo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Babuino smiles and moves away.
Babuino closes the distance but Blammo moves to the side

and Blammo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Babuino wants to stand but Blammo is controlling the position.

Blammo stands up and waves to Babuino to follow him.

Blammo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Blammo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Babuino is surviving well by controlling Blammo's body position as best he can.
Babuino's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Babuino tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Blammo tries to score a body lock takedown but Babuino shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Babuino is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Blammo can't fight it off and eventually Babuino manages to take the fight to the floor. Blammo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Babuino stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blammo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blammo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Babuino can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Blammo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Blammo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Babuino walks away with a smile on his face. Blammo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Blammo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Babuino keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Babuino shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blammo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Babuino turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Babuino manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blammo is looking to regain half guard here but Babuino keeps moving and retains side control.

Joe Blammo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Babuino is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blammo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Blammo.
I think Blammo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
