Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Peter Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruud Van Sperr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stevenson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Banned From Tv. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Stevenson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruud Van Sperr!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Sperr tries to clinch but Stevenson moves out of range.

A combination from Van Sperr does no damage.

Van Sperr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stevenson sprawls well initially but Van Sperr persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Van Sperr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Stevenson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Van Sperr.

Van Sperr is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stevenson defends it well.
Stevenson moves into full guard.

Stevenson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Sperr defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stevenson drops back looking for a leg! Van Sperr is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van Sperr manages to kick Stevenson off! Stevenson jumps back into Van Sperr's guard.
Van Sperr wants to stand and escape but Stevenson is having none of it.

Van Sperr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stevenson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Stevenson.
Van Sperr swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Stevenson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Stevenson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Van Sperr.
Van Sperr misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Stevenson swats away the attempt to clinch by Van Sperr.

Stevenson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Van Sperr throws a series of punches but Stevenson avoids them all with ease.

and Stevenson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Van Sperr won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Van Sperr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Peter Stevenson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stevenson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Van Sperr is trying to defend but Stevenson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Van Sperr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Stevenson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Stevenson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Van Sperr pushes Stevenson off looking to stand but Stevenson dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Van Sperr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stevenson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stevenson's back!
Van Sperr controlling well, preventing Stevenson from escaping the position.
Stevenson is keeping busy.
Van Sperr lands a shot to the head.
Van Sperr lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Van Sperr.

Stevenson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Van Sperr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Van Sperr wants to control from the top but Stevenson keeps moving.

Stevenson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Van Sperr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Van Sperr manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Van Sperr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
