The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dance is defended easily by gomez.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dance stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. gomez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dance accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

gomez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dance can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dance is in close to gomez's body, working some short punches and elbows.

gomez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dance is looking to work some ground and pound but gomez has wrist control.

gomez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dance gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dance stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. gomez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
gomez wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
gomez has momentary wrist control but Dance slips an elbow through the middle.

Dance connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed gomez momentarily.
Dance lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

gomez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than gomez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dance sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Dance is looking for a sweep. gomez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dance moves into full guard.

gomez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dance manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now gomez has Dance in his guard.
Dance has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
gomez is breathing heavily.
Dance connects with a couple of short punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dance passes gomez's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Dance is pressing down on gomez's thigh, looking to free his foot. gomez is holding on for now.

Dance works his foot free and advances to mount.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dance postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks gomez out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Dance goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
