Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jrock Mandela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mandela shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Penn looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Penn looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mandela can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mandela doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mandela manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mandela tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mandela advances nicely into full mount.

Mandela gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Penn looks gassed!
Mandela fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mandela tries to free his leg and advance position but Penn is retaining full guard.

Penn wriggles free and stands up.
Mandela looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penn is fending him off so far but Mandela persists. Nope, Penn circles away and we're back to standing.
Mandela swings for the body but Penn moves out of range.

Mandela has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Penn is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jrock Mandela. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn goes for a takedown attempt but Mandela pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Mandela decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Penn has an Americana. Mandela didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Penn is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Penn hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
